![]() ![]() Once !Connector was loaded onto the A3000's hard disk, everything else was fairly easy.įirst bit of software sent to the A3000? Jon Abbotts ADFFS! Connector is only about 200KB in size so it fits onto the old DD floppies which are all an (unmodded) A3000 can handle. I had an old PC with an onboard (non USB) floppy drive, which still worked, but the hard disk on the old PC had died so I had to faff about with a linux liveCD (Mint in this case) which recognised the floppy drive and (in command line mode) let me write a downloaded copy of !Connector onto the floppy. ![]() Hardest part was getting the process "bootstrapped" by getting !Connector onto my IanS hard disk. ![]() I spent about £8 total on the card, the two plugs and a length of cable.Īt the PC end, I'm using Windows 7 which no longer has Hyperterm, so I used Tera Term: Īt the A3000 end, I used !Connector which CMoreley had mentioned in another thread. PCI/PCI(e) serial cards, ethernet cable and the DB9 female plus can be obtained from a certain well known auction site, amongst other places. (d) you have or have access to a PC with a floppy drive which can read/write DD (720 / 800 KB floppy discs) (c) you don't mind transfer speeds which are fairly slow by modern standards but do save you the hassle of swapping floppies so you can go away and do other things (b) your A3000 doesn't have econet and you don't have another Acorn computer you could use as an econet/ethernet bridge, (a) you don't have, or don't want to pay the cost of, or don't have the free internal podule/external connector for an ethernet podule, Been meaning to post this for a bit in case it helps anyone else out who is looking for a way to transfer files from a PC to an A3000, where ![]()
